Checklist Usage
Single Pilot Procedures During Taxi Operations
Remember Herb's Rules to Live By:
1. Use a Checklist.
2. Look outside
3. Never fly hard IFR in a single engine aircraft.
Throughout the flight, use the appropriate checklist. Proper use is dependent on the
specific task being accomplished. The situation may be such that the use of the checklist
would be either unsafe or impractical, especially in single pilot operation. In this case, a
review of the checklist after the elements have been accomplished would be appropriate.
Division of attention and proper visual scanning should be considered when using a
checklist.
